Dental Assistant- General Practice

Duties

• Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary instruments, materials, and supplies for various dental procedures in general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
• Assist dentists chairside during procedures such as restorations, root canals, crowns, and pediatric treatments by providing efficient four-handed dentistry support.
• Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology including 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment while adhering to strict HIPAA privacy regulations.
• Manage patient records electronically using EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft; update medical history, treatment notes, and appointment details accurately.
• Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures; ensure aseptic techniques and infection control protocols are strictly followed.
• Educate patients on post-treatment care, dental terminology, and preventive practices; answer questions with clarity and professionalism.
• Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, managing medical documentation, coding procedures for billing, and maintaining organized medical records.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy general dentistry practice with knowledge of pediatric dentistry preferred.
• Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with Epic or similar platforms is a plus.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
• Skilled in chairside assisting across various specialties including prosthodontics and endodontics; capable of taking X-rays and operating 3D scanners.
• Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding to accurately document procedures.
• Ability to perform vital signs assessments and assist with medical imaging while maintaining a compassionate approach toward pediatric patients.

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
