Most hygienist job descriptions fail on the same two things: they bury the schedule and pay basis, and they list duties the state does not actually permit. Both are fixable in about ten minutes, and both change who applies.

What to include
Schedule and pay basis, in the first three lines. Days per week, hours, and whether pay is hourly or salaried.
A listing that hides these reads as a listing with something to hide, and hygienists filter on them before they read anything else.
A pay range. Ranges are increasingly required by law and, separately, listings without one get fewer applicants.
Quote from your state's median rather than the national one — the state table has every state with a published BLS estimate.
Patient load and instrumentation. Recall interval, average perio load, ultrasonic, loupes, digital radiography.
These describe the actual day better than any sentence about culture.
The credential, precisely. "Active [STATE] RDH licence" — plus any separate permit the role depends on, such as local anaesthesia or nitrous monitoring, which are issued separately in several states.

The scope line is where templates go wrong
What a hygienist may do — and whether a dentist must be present — is set by state law and varies more than most employers expect.
A template written for one state can list duties that are not permitted in yours, or omit ones that are.
Before posting, check your state: dental hygienist requirements by state covers every state with a direct-access provision in the ADHA chart, quoting the source.
Asking for procedures outside your state's hygiene scope tells a licensed candidate you have not checked.
After you post
Verify the licence with the state board before the first shift — by name and licence number, and separately for any additional permit.
There is no national registry.
Expect to answer on schedule and patient load in the first conversation.
Candidates who do not ask about those two are usually not the ones you want.
